History
2014: City compound vision
- Andreu Adams and Josh Hall Feel disconnected living in a city apartment, and see a city full of disconnected struggling people. They envision a community compound where each resident has a small bedroom and everyone shares an industrial kitchen, a garden, a gym, and a lounge. They would save money on rent, on bulk cooking, on food from the garden, and from socializing without needing to spend money at a bar. This would decrease monthly expenses while increasing belonging and morale.
2015: Farming Vision
- Will Markow and Josh garden in the sun and the worries of the world drift away. They want to buy farm land to keep living this way and sell produce.
2016: St. Peace House start
- Chris Kenrick, Mark Hunter, Grandma Mountain, Topaz Hooper and Andreu found the St. Peace House in St. Pete, FL and bring to life the city vision.
2019: St. Peace House end
- The city brought complications to the Peace House and the rent was still kinda high; the founders leave it behind. A rural project would be better. Josh makes a vow to not rest until land is purchased.
2022: First fund riaser
- First fund riaser: Terah Stivers joined Josh and Andreu for weekly meetings to write the mission. They collected a crew to raise money for land. Josh dropped out to be with his dying brother and the meetings dissolved.
2023: 40 desert acres
- Josh signs a purchase agreement for 40 acres in the desert, but cancelled because of dry well.
2025: Final fund raiser
- After many setbacks, growth, and community immersion experiences, Andreu and Josh re-open the quest to collect a crew and raise money for land with a matured community vision.
The People
- Andreu
Massage therapist and community builder, dedicated to helping others find peace and relief from pain. With studies in psychology, permaculture, meditation, and self-development, I bring a holistic approach to well-being. I value play and laughter as much as stillness and reflection, and my creed is to live authentically, foster connection, and inspire creativity in those around me.
- Will
- I want to build a tiny hut to live in with my wife. I want to run a garden operation in my back yard big enough to feed my family and friends and the birds and the deer, and enough to sell to local towns to make a living. I want to teach and manage WWOOFers and other volunteers, and play music in the sun, and by the campfire
- Kate
- I’ve always wanted to live wild and free on a tropical island. The desert is close enough if you grow the right palm trees and have enough swimming pools. If my kids are around I’m a happy gal
- Josh
- Every time I take a long venture into the wilderness all the stress and bad thoughts go away and life becomes serene. My goal is to normalize that life where I live in the wild, occasionally leaving for an industrial venture. I want to code video games and meditate by a fountain in my greenhouse office in the winter, and in my self-dug cave house in the summer. When I get restless I want to walk out my front door and join my friends and family in hands-on community projects and have fun, cook meals, and just chill.
- FrankWork hard play hard. I’m done dude. I just want to chill out and see through the veil. I like to do shit. Whether it’s plumbing, electric, roofing, gardening, tree work, pools, masonry, cars, animals, whatever. I’ve been there and know how to get it done
